Life in Tokyo: Vlog #40 Expensive Shoes & Cheap Chicken

I spend the day in Ginza. Located in the very heart of the city, east of the imperial palace this is primarily a place for high end shopping during the day, and business men who work in the area to go party at night.
I have included lots of recommendations, but especially check out the JNTO Tourist Information Center and ask for their monthly event calendar.

Also in this video I showed my favorite Paper shop, because I am a paper dork.

And my favorite place to eat Yakitori. The place I went to in this video is just around the corner from the place I went in the Swedes video, if you remember that.

Also due to a surpising interest in the pen… here is a link to the online catalogue listing. No idea if this is available abroad. Made by Kuretake of Japan.

I don’t smoke. But that doesn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy the Tobacco and Salt museum in Shibuya. Its not the greatest museum ever, surely. But it is worth a peak inside if you are in the area, especially because the entry fee is only ¥100.
My folks visited me in Tokyo. It was great to have them here, but now that they are gone, the house seems kind of sad. We did a lot of traveling during the trip but probably the most fun thing we did was work. Ive been appearing on a show for Japanese public Broadcaster NHK for the past few years, and I was able to convince the producers to film an episode about my parents visit.
A compilation of some random things Ive done recently. In this video I… Update on Krispy Kreme Grumpily about Cajun food in Japan Appear in a Commercial playing myself… a dork Link to the CM: www.youtube.com Also, I discover everything is better on a boat. Lots of fun was had in all places! Hopefully a house tour video is on the way next. Then some new Tokyo adventures.
I take a trip to the mountians outside Tokyo for a one day escape from urban life. It was nice to get out of the city, however brief. I got back in touch with the non-metrosexual manside by grilling meat over hot coals and having a warm schvitz. I wish I could do this every weekend, but sadly life in Tokyo is mostly working for the man. For those curious about costs and such: Log Cabin: 5000 yen (Per person, cabin sizes range from one person to groups of 6) Bar-b-que Rental: 2000 yen …

Some video from my attempt at hosting a thanksgiving party as well as some video of some christmas shopping with fellow Tokyo youtuber TkyoSam. As one might expect we had a good time but accomplished little and ended up eating strange icecream. TkyoSam http://www.youtube.com/user/TkyoSam Filmed in and around Sunshine City, Ikebukuro Check out my last Christmas video if you want to learn more about the festivities here at holiday time. Also the video of my other trip to Ice Cream City… both …
Burger King has returned to Tokyo after the branches all disappeared back in 2001. I have always been a bigger fan of BK than the other American burger chains, though if you watch my video about Japanese burger shops (Vlog #7) I still stick to my belief that Freshness Burger is the top grub in Japan. It is nice though, having a little taste of American junk food here in Japan. Next vlog… I head back to Ice Cream City to sample the other crazy ice creams I didn't get to in my Christmas …
I take a stroll down to Tokyo's Temple dedicated to Enma, King of the Underworld. Located near Monzennakacho Station. To balance that out I also visited Meji Shrine located near Harajuku in the heart of Tokyo, a tranquil rest from the hustle of the city.
