Im 14. Im sick of my life here, in inner city Chicago! My parents are just making life more difficult for me. I want to be able to run or immigrate to Japan myself, and hopefully be adopted by a nice Japanese family! This country is just not for me anyways!
You'll need maybe $1000+ for a plane ticket.
Then when you get there you won't know anyone, speak the language or have any employable skills.
Why not run away to Detroit?

That won't be possible.

Simple, you can't. You can't leave the country without your parents consent. You need a passport and a $1,200 plane ticket.
No Japanese family is going to adopt a 14 year old gaijin. It wouldn't be legal anyway.
If you're sick of your life, do something to change it ! Stay in school and get the best grades you can.

I highly advise against running away to ANYWHERE; I work with abused children every day( many of them "runaways"). You have less than 48 months until you are considered an adult; HANG IN THERE ! PS, I have lived in Japan; Money wise, it is VICIOUS ! I have traveled, and lived all over the world, and let me tell you,; You live in the best country !!!!!! PS. I also have lived in Chicago…….; I MOVED !

You will need a pass port..and your parents have to do this for you…plus the cost of the plane ticket…Your views are unreasonable…you will have to tough it out for 4 more years then move where you want to. Save your money. Sorry about your situation but, at least you have all of your limbs and you aren't blind..things could be worse. Try to be more positive…it will reward you.

Ya , wait until you have to deal with Tokyo ,
Way more rushed than Chicago and
Most Japanese families are veryyyyy strict .
School 6 days a week and NO slacking off .
Most parents annoy their offspring once the puberty hormones kick in .
Why do you think Japan is so great for kids ?
Are your parents like junkies who do nothing or something like that ?
Then Japan my be for you , they are very production driven .
good luck

Sorry, you can't at your age…
I'm 14 too and feel the same way as you do sometimes, but to get away from my parents, I am going on an exchange program. Maybe you should look into that.

I'm sorry the things are hard for you.
But running away at age 14 will be too hard!
Without money job etc to live in Japan is almost impossible.
If you like Japan, learn the language and have good education now.
Then when you're old enough, maybe you can get a job and move to Japan.

It's not possible.
Wait until you reach 18.
Living in Japan is very difficult especially you're a foreigner.
You need to study Japanese language first before you stay in Japan.
Japanese anime/drama is different in real life.
– I agree with Bugaisha. You can stay in school and focus on your studies. I don't have good parents too. All I do is study study study until I don't mind them anymore. It's my gain because I have good grades. –

Man, you really need a reality check. If the US is not for you, what makes you think Japan is?
Assuming you can somehow get a passport which requires your parents consent, and about $1000 for the airline ticket not to mention money for food and lodging, what makes you think a 'nice Japanese family' would adopt a runaway who can't even speak Japanese?
You do know that the cost of food in Japan is at least triple of that in the US? One medium orange is about $5, an cantaloup will cost you at about $45 (on sale), and beef at about $56 per pound. You got that kind of money?
As for immigrating to Japan, Japan is not like the US where immigration laws are pretty lax and usually not even enforced. The Japanese ARE serious about enforcing immigration laws and to become a Japanese citizen requires at least convincing the Japanese government that you would make a good citizen, can function in their society (ie, have an education, speak the language, etc.) AND you have to do all that before you go to Japan. You don't get to go and then apply for citizenship.
Even if by some miracle, you do get to Japan, you are not an adult and that means your parents can have the authorities kick you out of Japan and brought back to the US.

You can start with climbing down from your naive little cloud.
That's NEVER going to happen.
Stop dreaming and suck it up. You probably don't even have a bad life, you whiny little shit.

Loooool. Im guessing you got this fantasy from "Naruto" or "Yu-Gi-oh" where you believe everythings nice and fluffy. Hahahahaa, you crack me up.
Anime nerds like you really destroy the Japan section of YahooAnswers. You ask the SAME questions every day, and get the same answers every day.
Have you not been to school ?
Pathetic.
